TRYING LUSH PRODUCTS!: Fresh Handmade Colour Lipstick Review

Hello my lovelies! Hope you’re all keeping well and keeping cool in the heat (for those of you who aren’t in the UK, we’re having a heatwave and it’s hella hot!).

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now and now I’m finally doing it! I’m reviewing some Lush makeup! I’ve bought a few products from Lush recently so I’ll be reviewing more Lush products over the next few weeks, so watch this space!

The Lush Fresh Handmade Colour is a lip colour, that on first impressions has the consistency similar to a lip cream. I bought the colour Decisive, which is a red with raspberry undertones.

As always with Lush, the products contain natural ingredients and this particular product is vegan as well.

It’s description of the Lush UK website is:

“If you’re ready to go places, this bright, spicy red will take you there. With organic jojoba oil for nourishing lips and candelilla wax to pack a strong hold the only limit is your own doubt. Send it flying with fiery colour.”

So this lip colour claims to moisturise lips and be long lasting. So how did it fare?

Well first of all I loved the colour. It’s this bold red but with pink raspberry tones as opposed to a blood red with blue undertones i.e. MAC Russian Red.

Like a lip cream, when you unscrew the cap, attached is a doe foot applicator and the product glides on to the lips very easily. Because of the ingredients, the product does feel very moisturising on the lips, like a cross between a satin lip cream and a balm.

The colour is gorgeous, highly pigmented and although I was a little apprehensive about the brightness of the raspberry tones in the colour (being a very pale girl myself) I was pleasantly surprised.

However, when I’ve been wearing it the colour bleeds out and transfers incredibly easily, so it doesn’t stay put anywhere near as well as other traditional lip creams i.e. NYX or ColourPop. I personally like my lip creams to last as long as possible with as little re-applying as possible so this wasn’t great.

The formula itself is only long lasting in the sense that it will stain your lips and can be difficult to remove completely at the end of the day.

If you’re going to wear this colour from the bottle (whether it’s different in its lipstick form, I’m yet to try this) please be careful if you’re wearing a nice scarf or top unless you do a heck of a load of blotting, because one wrong move and you’ve stained a favourite wardrobe piece.

So overall, I’d give mixed reviews on this product. Yes, the colour is gorgeous, pigmented and one of the most moisturising lip colours I’ve ever used. However, the fact it slides off easily and stains all in its way isn’t fantastic.
